• Funeral services were held Sunday in Cantwell, Alaska for Edgar W. Busenitz, 57, of rural Newton. He died Saturday of a heart attack in Alaska where he had been vacationing and visiting a daughter. Survivors include his widow, Elm; one daughter, Mrs. Ellis (Dorothy) Kasten of Ruby, Alaska; one son, Eugene, of rural Newton; six brothers; four sisters; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held later at Emmaus Mennonite Church near Whitewater.

• A memorial service for Edgar W. Busenitz, 57, was held Sunday afternoon at the Emmaus Mennonite Church near Whitewater, with Rev. L. R. Amstutz in charge. Mr. Busenitz died unexpectedly July 26 at Cantwell, Alaska, where he and his wife had gone to visit their daughter and family. The funeral was held July 27 at Cantwell.

EDGAR W. BUSENITZ

Edgar W. Busenitz was born near Elbing, Kan. on Oct. 3, 1911, to John A. and Justine Busenitz. He was the sixth of 11 children.

Edgar received Jesus Christ as Saviour at an early age. He cherished the memory of his godly mother teaching him Bible verses and reading Bible stories to him. His life manifested his trust in our wonderful, precious Lord. The verses underlined in his Bible indicate his dependence upon God.

In June 1930 he was baptized upon his confession of faith by Rev. B. W. Harder and became a member of the Emmaus Mennonite Church near Whitewater, Kan.

On March 1, 1938, he was married to Elma Regier. To this union were born one son, Eugene, and one daughter, Dorothy. Thirty-one years of married life were enjoyed together in which the Lord Jesus gave guidance, comfort, joy and blessings.

Edgar enjoyed a teaching ministry in Sunday school and Child Evangelism Teacher Training classes. He was a member of the Berean Academy School Board and of the Emmaus School Board and acted as secretary of both. He enjoyed reading, which he attributed to his father's encouragement to read. Books that strengthened his faith were his favorites.

In the last few months he made the following statement several times, "God is too wise to make any mistakes and too loving to withhold what is best for us." He spoke also of how wonderful to just put our lives in God's hands, knowing that his way would be best. This pertained also to the places we planned to visit on the trip to Alaska, which he was looking forward to with much anticipation, to see our daughter and family. He was privileged to enjoy seven weeks of this trip, of which eight days were spent at Victory Bible Camp, Palmer, Alaska. He thoroughly enjoyed the Bible teaching given by Dr. Spencer from San Antonio, Texas, as well as the reports and testimonies given by the natives and missionaries. Seventeen days were spent with our children, the Ellis Kasten family.

He went to be with the Lord on July 26 in Cantwell, Alaska, at the age of 57 years, nine months and 23 days. His parents preceded him in death.

He leaves his wife, Elma; one son, Eugene, and wife Myrtle Loy; one daughter, Dorothy, and husband Ellis Kasten; five grandchildren, six brothers, John of Newton, Herman of Potwin, Willie of Whitewater, Albert of Peabody, Bernard of Newton, and Arthur of Benton; four sisters, Mrs. B. R. (Justine) Regier, Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Thiessen, both of Newton, Mrs. Alfred (Hedwig) Wiebe of Burns, and Mrs. Oliver (Elizabeth) Unruh of Hillsboro; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
