ERNEST BUSCHMAN

Ernest Buschman was born Sept. 15, 1909 at Weatherford, Okla. Here he spent the first 17 years of his life with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter G. Buschman. In 1928 the family moved to Ulysses, Kan.

When Ernest was 21 he trusted the Lord as Saviour in an evanglistic meeting held by the Ulysses Mennonite Church in th Spring Valley School. Rev. David Hooge was the evangelist. On June 15, 1930 he was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church.

While attending a Bible conference at Tabor College, he met Margaret Penner who was then living in Hillsboro. They were united in marriage on Aug. 27, 1933 in a double wedding with Clarence E. Penner and Sarah Penner. Rev. P. E. Nickel performed the ceremony.

The first eleven years of married life were spent on a farm near Ulysses. In 1944 the family moved to Fresno, Calif. Here Bro. Buschman worked first as a carpenter and then for 15 years as a railroad worker.

He was active for the Lord from the time of his conversion. He was Sunday school superintendent for a number of years at the church near Ulysses and also at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Fresno. He was ordained as a deacon by the Bethany Church on Nov. 19, 1950. He felt that the organizational part of the church was very important, and for a number of years he was an able member of the church council.

He is remembered by his devotion to his family. Kindness and consideration characterized his relationship to his companion in marriage and the children and grandchildren.

Entrance into his Lord's presence came peacefully on May 25. He leaves us to await the Lord's call his widow, Mrs. Margaret Buschman; a son, Kenneth of Fresno; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Jane Rauch of Wolf Point, Mont. and Janis Gaylene of Fresno; four grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs Peter G.
