MRS. MARY SUSAN BURKHOLDER

Mrs. Mary Susan (Berry) Burkholder was born at Stone Spring, Rockingham County, Va. on Feb. 18, 1882, daughter of the late Andrew and Sarah Landis Berry. She was from a family of eight children. Her five sisters and two brothers are Mrs. Ina Flisher and Mrs. Ressie Good of Nampa, Idaho, Mrs. Rose Brenneman, Mrs. Myrta Brenneman and Mrs. Ruth Good of Elida, Ohio, Clark Berry of Elida and Ira Berry of Archbold, Ohio.

She was married to Alpheus Franklin Burkholder of near Harrisonburg, Va. They resided for a few years in Colorado and several years near Harrisonburg in their early married life, but resided for the past 30 years at Waynesboro, Va.

She was a faithful member of the Springdale Mennonite church and served in many avenues of Christian service. Her life was one of fine choices and of unselfish devotion to her husband, who was a deacon for many years. Her children will cherish her loving deeds with pleasant memories.

Although she had failed somewhat in health after a slight stroke a year ago, her passing was unexpected. On Friday evening, Jan. 29, she departed this life quietly and peacefully.

Her husband survives, with these sons and daughters: Aaron Burkholder, Andrew Burkholder, Mrs. Clara Driver and Miss Anna Mary Burkholder, all of Waynesboro, Va., Mrs. Eva Brubaker of Lima, Ohio, Timothy Burkholder of Croghan, N. Y. and Melvin Burkholder of Fleetwood, Pa. Also a number of grandchildren survive.

Funeral services were conducted Feb. 2 at the Springdale Mennonite church. Bishop Franklin Weaver, Rev. Silas Brydge and Rev. Perry Burkholder had charge.
