RETIRED BISHOP OF INDIANA CONGREGATION CALLED BY DEATH
Nappanee, Ind. — Funeral services for David O. Burkholder, 72, bishop in the Amish Mennonite church since 1917, were held at the Maple Lawn Amish Mennonite Church near here on Feb. 11. He had served as pastor of the church for many years before retiring due to ill health.
Bishop Burkholder's large family of descendants includes five sons, eight daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
