TERESA BURKEY

Teresa Arvilla (Eicher) Burkey, 91, of Sun City, Ariz., died May 19, 2010, at her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1918, to William and Lydia Eicher of Milford, Neb.

She married Perry Burkey of Milford on Aug. 26, 1936.

She and Perry moved to Hesston, Kan., in 1954, where they were members of Hesston Mennonite Church. She was a homemaker, bookkeeper, librarian and manager of the Mennonite Central Committee cutting room in Newton, Kan. She loved to sew, piece and then quilt. She also taught quilting at the Newton Adult Education Program. She later moved to Sun City.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillian Laurinec and her husband, Jerry, of Denver, Colo., Margaret Martin and her husband, Dell, of Glendale, and Bonnie Simons of Sun City; a sister, Violet Troyer of Harper, Kan.; twin brothers, Lloyd Eicher and his wife, Eldora, of Denver, Colo., and Floyd Eicher and his wife, Marie, of Redline, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry; two sisters, Laverta Sweitzer and Verdella Miller; two brothers, Doc Walter Eicher and Ellis Eicher; and two grandsons, Christopher and Chad.

Services and the burial were both held at Eastlawn Cemetery.
