THREE-YEAR-OLD SON OF INDIANA FAMILY DROWNS DURING OUTING
Elkhart, Ind. — Three-year-old Harold Jay Burkey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burkey of Elkhart, drowned in Garver Lake in Michigan Aug. 23 while the family was occupying a cottage at the lake.
The child apparently wandered into the water while the parents and some of the other children were swimming in deeper water near their cottage.
Funeral services were held Aug. 26 at the Prairie Street Mennonite church here. Surviving are the parents, 10 brothers and sisters, and the grandparents, William Burkeys of Edwardsburg, Mich. and Rufus Manns of Central Lake, Mich.
