— The aged Henry J. Buller, who came to this country from Russia at an early age, died at Axtell Christian hospital Sunday afternoon at the age of 84. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the First Mennonite church, Rev. D. J. Unruh and Rev. J. E. Entz officiating. Mr. Buller is survived by eight children: Mrs. Herman Hanke, Jake Buller, John and Pete Buller (twins), all of Newton; Katie Buller and Mrs. John Janzen of Wichita; Howard of Cascade, Colo.; and Miss Sarah Buller, missionary in French West Africa. Thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

HENRY J. BULLER

Henry J. Buller, son of Jacob and Katherina (Janzen) Buller, was born in Landskron, South Russia, October 1, 1868, and passed away at Newton, Kansas, June 7, 1953, aged 84 years, eight month and six days.

In 1876, together with his parents, two brothers and three sisters he moved from South Russia to America and settled near Henderson, York county Nebraska where he grew to young manhood and received his early Christian training.

On May 18, 1888, he was baptized on his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour from sin by Elder Peter J. Friesen and joined the Bethesda Mennonite church in Henderson, Nebraska.

In 1892 his family moved to the vicinity of Inman and Buhler, Kansas.

On October 27, 1901, he was married to Anna Androes. This union was blessed with five sons and five daughters of whom one son and one daughter preceded him in death. His wife Anna also preceded him in death on June 29, 1938.

In 1922 they moved to Newton. On December 17, 1922, he with his wife joined the First Mennonite church of which he was a faithful member to the end.

He had always had good health in his life but the last six weeks he began to fail rapidly and often talked about soon seeing the loved ones who had gone on before to the heavenly Home. On June 4, he was taken to the hospital with double pneumonia and everything was done for him that could be done. But the Lord spoke, “Come home, you have finished your work, there remaineth a rest for the people of God.” On Sunday, June 7, 12:40 p.m. he passed into the life beyond to be with his Lord where no pain or sickness shall enter, but eternal joy and happiness.

He leaves to mourn his departure four sons and four daughters, Katie of Wichita, Howard of Cascade, Colorado, Mrs. Herman (Anna) Hanke of Newton, Mrs. John W. (Mary) Janzen of Wichita, Sarah of French West Africa, Jake, John and Pete of Newton; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

He was the last one of his brothers and sisters to go to glory.

We sorrow not as others which have no hope, but look forward to a blessed reunion in glory.
