MRS. KATIE BRANDT

Katie Harms Brandt was born August 8, 1889 near Jansen, Neb. to John L. and Elizabeth Harms, and departed this life at her home in Dallas, Oregon on April 5, 1960, reaching the age of 70 years, seven months and 28 days.

At the age of 17 she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized and received into the membership of the E.M.B. church where she remained a member until her death.

On Dec. 15, 1907 she was united in marriage to Isaac T. Brandt and they established their home on a farm near Jansen, where they resided until 1917 when they moved to Garden City, Kansas. In 1926 the family moved to Meade, Kansas where they resided for about 10 years, after which they moved to the Pacific Coast. She and her husband had the privilege of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 1957.

She was a loving and devoted mother, a person of few words, and was resigned to the will of the Lord.

Her health was not too good all through life, and as a result she suffered much. In 1947 she had a gallstone operation and while it proved successful, the Lord had other plans for her. In August 1958 she had several strokes, and another stroke on April 4 of this year, after which the Lord saw fit to take her home on April 5 at 5:15 a.m.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Isaac T. Brandt; six children, Pete and Sara Brandt of Dallas, John and Luella Brandt of Salem, Ore., Arnold and Rachel Brandt of Dallas, Ore., Edwin and Juanita Brandt of Perrydale, Ore., John H. and Elizabeth Harder of Meade, Kan., Herman and Ann Ediger of Dallas; 26 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Henry, John, Pete, Isaac, and Jonas; six sisters, Margaret Harms, Agnes Loewen, Lena Cornelson, Marie Thiessen, Hilda Quiring and Alma Enns. One son, Andrew, preceded her in death.

We mourn as those who have a living hope of meeting again in the presence of the Lord where there will be no parting. — The Bereaved Family.
