NICHOLAS BOSCHMAN

Nicholas Boschman was born August 21, 1899 in the village of Rosenort, in the valley of the Molotschnar southern Russia. His parents were Jacob and Anna Boschman (nee Ediger). He was the youngest of three children.

In spite of all the prayers and concern of his parents it was not until the age of 19 that he accepted Christ as his Saviour. He then could join his family as they sang: "He took my sins away." On his 21st birthday he was baptized and accepted into the Allianz Church in Lichtfelde. April 17, 1922 was the day that God gave him his beloved partner for life, Liese (nee Klassen).

In October of 1926, they left South Russia, with their three year old son, Rudy, arriving in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, the next month. The following year they moved to a farm in Whitewater, Manitoba, and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. Their only daughter, Annie, was born there.

In 1932, the Lord led them to Yarrow, B.C. where they were warmly welcomed. They cherished the many friendships they cultivated there. God was good to them in times of joy and also in times of trials and testing, giving new courage and strength.

On August 21, 1947, they were ordained into the deaconal ministry of the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church. They experienced the joy, the presence, and the power of the Lord throughout their service.

On Mother's Day, May 9, 1971, the Lord of Glory called him home.
