Mrs. Katherine Boschmann

Mother Katherine Boschmann was born in Russia on December 25, 1858. In 1877 she emigrated with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Fast and came to America where they made their home in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. When 10 years old she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized by Elder Bernhard Peters and became a member of the Mennonite church at Gnadenau, Russia.

On January 29, 1885 she was joined in marriage to John Boschmann. For 49 years they shared the joys and sorrows of life. On April 12, 1933 her husband passed away and was buried in Texas, where they had been making their home at the time of his death.

Since they had no children they adopted one boy, Amel, whom they reared and took with them to Texas. They have made their home in various states. Most of the time they lived in Texas and Oklahoma. at the time of her death she was a member of the Mennonite church of Medford Oklahoma.

When Mr. Boschmann passed away she came to Oklahoma and made her home with her sister who lived in a very cozy cottage on the arm of her daughter, Brother and Sister H. A. Toews, northeast of Enid, Oklahoma. For eight and one-half years she lived with these good Christian people who cared for her in a very generous and Christian way. Mother Boschmann appreciated this very much and psoke of it repeatedly when the minster came to see her. Early in May of this year her sister, Mrs. Kroeker-Hiebert, was called to her heavenly home. This was a great loss to her and she wished that she, too, might join her in this journey because she now felt alone.

Soon after her sister's death she was taken to the home of another niece, Mrs. John Goeble, Deer Creek, Oklahoma. these dear people also cared for her in a kind and loving way until her death on July 1.

Grandmother Boschmann had been in ill health for some time and very often she expressed the desire to be releaved [sic] of her suffering and be with Jesus. On July 1 she became very seriously ill and passed away that day at 11:15 p. m.

She leaves to mourn her departure one adopted son, Amel, who was present for the funeral. Then there are six nephews and nieces living and a number of friends. One brother is still living and is making his home in California.

Funeral services were conducted July 5 at 1:30 p. m. in the chapel of the Darnall Funeral Home where Rev. B. c. Seibel, Pastor of the Mennonite Brethren Church, North of Enid, Oklahoma, brought a message and at 3 p. m. at the Mennonite Church near Medford, Oklahoma, with Rev. A. G. Schmidt in charge. He was assisted by Rev. H. N. Harder, who brought the message. The burial was made at the church cemetery in Medford, Oklahoma.
