Second Oldest Amish Bishop Died in Ohio

Sugarcreek, Ohio. — Funeral services were conducted near here on Sunday forenoon, April 30, for Noah C. Borntrager, 89, believed to be the second oldest bishop in the Old Order Amish Church. Ordained in 1911, he was the oldest in years of service.

Bishop Borntrager died at his home in April 27 after a brief illness. He and his wife, the former Katie Beachy, had recently observed their 67th wedding anniversary.

Survivors in addition to the widow include two daughters, four sons, 35 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
