MARIA BORN

Maria Born of Coaldale, Alberta, was born on December 4, 1901 in Alexandropol, Russia, the daughter of Frank and Maria (nee Baerg) Born. She passed away on November 10 at the age of 75 years. As a two-year-old, she moved with her parents to the Molotschna where she spent her childhood and youth. When she was 18 she was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church in Schoensee.

In 1943 Miss Born fled with her mother and family to Germany, where they remained as refugees until 1948. The Lord then made it possible for them to come to Canada and settle in Coaldale. On November 3, 1977, she suffered a light stroke from which she partially recovered. A second, more severe, stroke on November 8 led to her passing two days later. The family will remember Maria as one who spent much time in reading her Bible.

She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters and two brothers; one brother is missing. She will be missed by her two sisters, Tina and Margaret, in Coaldale; one sister and one brother-in-law, Henry Regehr, in Russia; her aunt, (Mrs.) Anna Langemann of Coaldale; and many other relatives and friends.
