● Leah Rose Nickel Borchardt, 71, of Newton, died Feb. 27 as the result of a fire at her home. funeral services were held march 1 at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, rural whitewater, with Jim Voth officiating. Burial was at the Grace hill Church Cemetery. Survivors include one sister, Leonah Unruh of Walton. Her husband, Harold L. preceded her in death in 1987.
