OLDEST RESIDENT OF WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD. DIED AT AGE 100

Hagerstown, Md. — Samuel Boppe, believed to be the oldest resident of Washington county, died Sunday, May 16, after attaining the age of 100 years, six months, and three days.

He united with the Mennonite church, and wa one of the first members of the Pinesburg Mission at Williamsport. He was the father of five children, and leaves 36 grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Among his early memories was that the soldiers passing through this part of the county during the Civil War.
