Aged Amish Woman Dies Following Accident

Goshen, Ind. — An 80-year-old Amish woman of the Topeka community died in Goshen General Hospital early Monday morning, April 24, after being involved in an accident on Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Rebecca Bontrager and her husband, Levi, 78, were returning home from Sunday church services in a horse-drawn buggy when the buggy overturned as they made a wide turn at an intersection. Mrs. Bontrager suffered undetermined injuries, but a preliminary coroner's report indicated that death was due to complications of a heart condition.

Mrs. Bontrager was a life-long resident of the Topeka area. Besides her husband, she leaves five sons, one daughter, 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
