OPAL G. BONTRAGER

Opal G. Bontrager, 77, a homemaker, died Jan. 31, 1993, at her home in Hesston, kan. She was born oct. 12, 1915, in Protection, Kan., to Alvin and Nora Loucks Selzer.

On Jan. 1, 1940, she married Eli Bontrager in Protection. He survives. They lived in Protection for two years, Missouri for nine years and on a farm near Burrton for several years before moving to Hesston in 1990. She was a member of Hesston Mennonite Church.

Other survivors include three sons, Ivan “Ike” of Hesston, Mervin of Wichita and Orvin of Aurora, neb.; a daughter, Inez Unruh of Halstead; four brothers, Truman Selzer of Hesston, Lester and Roy of Protection and Ernest of Sharon Springs; three sisters, Berta Miller of Hesston, Nellie Schultz of Buhl, Idaho, and Mary Ann Miller of Filer, Idaho; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Elvin, in 1975, a brother and three sisters.

A graveside service and burial was held at Yoder Mennonite Church Cemetery. A memorial service was held at Hesston Mennonite Church with David Mann officiating.
