DEVON J. BONTRAGER

Devon J. Bontrager of Greencastle, Pa., died march 3, 1989, in a Rochester, N. Y. hospital of injuries suffered in a traffic accident near Rochester.

He was born May 7, 1947, in LaGrange, Ind. He was married to carol J. Hartman, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Rick D. and Ron L., and a daughter, Sherry L. all of the home; two sisters, Carolyn (Mrs. Nevin) Albrecht of Elkhart, Ind., and Mildred (Mrs. David) Wideman of Park Hill, Ont.; a brother, Marion Bontrager of Bristol, Ind.; and his father, Orvan Bontrager of Topeka, Ind. He was preceded in death by a brother, Maynard, in 1967 and his mother, Grace (Mishler) Bontrager, in 1979.

As a 1-W volunteer, he was an accountant at General Hospital in Evanston, Ill. He was a graduate of South Bend (Ind.) College of Commerce and attended Eastern Mennonite Seminary, Harrisonburg, Va.

He served as pastor of Brethren in Christ churches in Cassopolis and Leonard, Mich. and helped establish a church in Springfield, Ohio. In 1988 he was named director of Alive '89 in Lancaster County, Pa.

Funeral services were held at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg, Pa. Burial was in Air Hill Cemetery.
