Indiana Girl Killed In One-Car Crash En Route to Church

Kokomo, Ind. — A one-car accident near Petoskey, Mich. on Nov. 10 as five girls were en route to morning church services claimed the life of Darlene Bontrager, 16, of this community.

The girls, three from this area and two from Michigan, were on the way to the Stutzmanville Mennonite Church when the car hit a rock at a curve. A tie-rod broke and the vehicle overturned, throwing Darlene out. The others escaped with minor injuries.

Darlene was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bontrager of rural Kokomo and a member of the Bon Air Mennonite Church here. The funeral was held on Nov. 13 at the Howard-Miami Mennonite Church.
