MRS. KATHARINA BOESE

Mrs. Katharina Boese was born in Russia on March 17, 1874, and departed this life in the Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield, Calif. on Jan. 6, 1958, attaining the age of 83 years, nine months and 20 days.

Mrs. Boese came to America with her parents, Aaron and Katharina Thiessen Regehr, in the year 1876 and settled in McPherson County, Kansas. At the age of 17 she was baptized upon her confession of faith and became a member of the Bethel Mennonite church at Inman, Kansas. On Nov. 8, 1892, she was married to David Boese. They moved to Shafter, Calif. in 1937 where Mrs. Boese made her home since that time. Mr. Boese preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1940.

Mrs. Boese is remembered as a devoted Christian mother and grandmother by her seven children, Mrs. H. H. Gaede of Shafter, Calif., Henry D. Boese of Clinton, Okla., Jake Boese of Waka, Texas, Mrs. Mary Warkentine of Modesto, Calif., John D. Boese of Oildale, Calif., Mrs. Martha Copenhaver of Stafford, Kansas, George Boese of Shafter, Calif.; and 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Abe Regehr and George Regehr, and a sister Mrs. P. M. Duerksen are living in Kansas.

As a member of the First Mennonite Church at Shafter, Mrs. Boese continued to exemplify a strong faith in God her Savior. This faith gave her inward peace and a great hope during her illness, and now she has gone to be with Him who gives Life and who gives life eternal.
