MRS. KATHARINA BOESE

Mrs. Katharina Boese, nee Huebert, of Madrid, Nebraska, was born October 8, 1887 [sic 1877], at Hampton, Hamilton county, Nebraska. Her mother preceded her in death when she was only a child of only four years.

She has always retained a few vivid memories of her mother and cherished these reverently. She spent her childhood years on a farm three miles northwest of Henderson, Nebraska, where she was to live again later and where she reared a family of five children.

At the age of 19 she was baptized by the Elder Peter J. Friesen upon the confession of her faith and was received as a member in the Bethesda Mennonite church on May 25, 1896. She was married to our father, Henry Boese, on July 7, 1901, at Henderson. To this union were born five children, one of whom Eva Mabel passed to the Great Beyond at the age of two. She always devoted herself to her children and grandchildren, ever extending a helping hand and heart to all. She loved them all with a love that was more than love — it was a mother's deep devotion to do good. She was made enduring impression on all her children.

When they moved to Madrid she joined the First Mennonite church at that place and has remained a faithful member there until her death.

She passed away on January 29. She attained the age of 67 years, 3 months, and 21 days. Her passing was sudden and without pain and suffering.

She is survived by her bereaved husband, Henry Boese, and four children, Mrs. Minnie Reimer, Madrid, Nebraska; Henry Boese, Canon City, Colorado; Benjamin F. Boese, Washington, D. C.; Herman Boese, Madrid, Nebraska; also one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law; a brother, George Huebert, Dallas, Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Eva Janzen, Henderson, Nebraska, and a host of relatives and friends.

There are seven grandchildren who will miss her as greatly as all of us. they were a deep source of joy to her. One granddaughter, Frances Carol Boese, died at the age of six on September 15, 1942.

We mourn but only as such who hope to see her at the final gathering of the children of God.
