JULIA JANTZ BOESE

Julia Jantz Boese was born Dec. 9, 1864, in the village of Gruenthal, Russian Poland, died on March 6, 1950, at Portland, Oregon.

She came to the U. S. in 1874, settling at Great Bend, Kans. She was baptized and joined the Mennonite church when 12 years old. She was united in marriage to John Boese Nov. 14, 1886.

She joined the New Jerusalem church at Pawnee Rock, Kans., in November of 1898. They moved to Portland, Ore. Sept. 25, 1918.

Six children were born to this union: Rudolph L., Dundee, Kans.; Mrs. Ada Grace Elfsten, Portland, Ore.; Francis R., Portland, Ore.; Louisa Esta Sundermierer, Gaston, Ore.; Adolph Heinrich and Mrs. Martha Leah Dodd, both of Dundee, Kans. Adolph and Martha preceded her in death. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a brother, Henry Jantz, of Durham, Kans.

Her body was brought to the Pawnee Rock community for burial services. A short service was held at the Rudolph Boese home, and final services at the New Jerusalem church, on March 14.
