— Jacob Boese of the Goessel community passed away Monday at the McPherson hospital. Funeral services are to be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Goessel Mennonite church, of which he was a member.

JACOB BOESE

Jacob Boese, son of Benjamin and Anna Wedel Boese, was born on October 1, 1881, in Marion county near Goessel, Kansas. He received his schooling in the Hochfeld school in Marion county.

In May of 1901 he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, by Elder Peter Balzer, and became a member of the Alexanderwohl church. In 1920 he became, a charter member when the Goessel Mennonite church was organized. He remained a faithful member here until his death.

On June 20, 1923, he was married to Anna Goertz. To this union were born one daughter and three sons, Martha, Johnny, and Irven living at home; Arthur and his wife Ann, living near Whitewater.

He passed to his eternal reward at eleven o’clock on Monday morning, October 29, 1951, at the McPherson County hospital. The immediate cause of his passing was heart asthma.

Mr. and Mrs. Boese shared twenty-eight years, four months, and nine days of life together. His parents, two brothers, and six sisters have departed. The only living sister, Sara, has made her home with his family.

Mr. Boese was born and lived his entire life on the same farm.

Funeral services were conducted at one o’clock on Thursday afternoon, November 1, by Rev. P. P. Buller at the Bergen funeral home and at two o'clock in the Goessel Mennonite church under the direction of Orlin Frey. Burial was in the Goessel Mennonite cemetery.
