HENRY D. BOESE

Henry D. Boese, son of David and Katharina Regehr Boese, was born Sept. 9, 1895, near Inman, Kan. He went to be with his Lord on June 11, 1965, reaching the age of 69 years, nine months, and two days.

In 1904 Henry moved with his parents to Turpin, Okla. where he lived on a farm and grew to maturity. At the age of approximately 18 he was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and Lord by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff, and was received into the membership of the Friedensfeld Mennonite Church of Turpin.

In 1920 he was married to Anna Ratzlaff of Corn, Okla. and moved to the Corn community. After farming near Weatherford and Corn for 35 years, he and Mrs. Boese moved to Clinton in 1955, from where he continued to carry on his farming interests to some extent until this past winter.

Father loved his family and was deeply concerned for the spiritual welfare of each one. He was energetic and hard-working. He was the kind of person who could be depended upon for help by others whenever a need arose.

Since 1920 he had been a member of the Bergthal Mennonite Church. He was a faithful and active church member all his life, serving for a time as deacon and earlier as a trustee.

For the past six months father had been in failing health. Early in March it became obvious that he was suffering with an incurable disease. On May 24 he entered the Methodist Nursing Home in Clinton, where he quietly and peacefully departed to his heavenly Home Friday morning, June 11.

He was preceded in death by one son, Vernon, who died in early childhood.

He is survived by his wife, Annie; one daughter, Mrs. Roy Harris of Pratt, Kan.; three sons, Marvin of Norman, David of Weatherford, and Leroy of the home; two sisters, Mrs, Mary Warkentin of Modesta [sic Modesto] , Calif. and Mrs. Martha Copenhaver of Stafford, Kan.; there brothers, Jake Boese of Reedley, Calif., John Boese of Oildale, Calif., and George Boese of Ammarillo [sic Amarillo], Texas; and five grandchildren.
