BENJAMIN M. BOESE

Benjamin M. Boese, son of Martin and Katherin Boese, was born March 1, 1878, near Springfield, South Dakota. He passed away on September 18, 1944, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. in the Denver General Hospital at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 17 days. Becoming suddenly ill with pneumonia he was taken to the hospital on the evening of September 15.

He grew to manhood near Springfield, South Dakota. He was baptized in the faith of our Lord and joined the Friedensberg church of Avon, South Dakota, in 1896 and remained a faithful member there until his death.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Buller on November 3, 1898. To this union two children were born: William J., of Panama, and Ida, Mrs. Henry Pankratz, of Kingsburg, California.

He moved with his family to Vona, Colorado, in 1907 where they homesteaded for 17 years. They then moved to Denver, Colorado, where he became a carpenter.

He lived a happy wedded life for 44 years, 10 months, and 15 days. he leaves to mourn his departure his two children; eight grandchildren, one of whom preceded him in death; four brothers, Tobias M. of Tampa, Florida, Jacob M. of Springfield, South Dakota, David and Peter of Saginaw, Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn McNeely of Northfield, Minnesota, and Mrs. Emma S. Ewert of Russell, Minnesota; and many friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 25, 1944, at the church south of Vona, Colorado, by the local pastor, Rev. Cliffton McGlothian. A quartet composed of Mrs. A. Dennis, Miss Amelia Howell, Carl Harrison and C. Frankfather sang "Rock of Ages," "Sometime We'll Understand," and "The Home Over There" in the church and "Nearer My God To Thee" at the grave. The pall bearers were Dan Tanner, Eli Becker, Art Boese, Leander Becker, Morten Nelson and Wilbert Becker.
