Former 'Steinbach Post' Editor Dies
Steinbach, Manitoba. — Jacob H. Block, 76, a former editor of "Die Steinbach Post," died here Sept. 14 after suffering a heart attack.
Mr. Block moved here and joined the staff of the Post in 1955. In 1957, following the death of Gerhard Derksen, he was named editor of the German weekly newspaper and served until 1960 when forced into semi-retirement by failing eyesight.
A native of Gruenfeld, Russia, he taught school in Russia before coming to Canada in 1922.
