text of obituary:

MRS. HENRY J. BERGEN

Helen Mierau Bergen, our wife and mother, daughter of John L. Mierau and Helena Klippenstein Mierau, was born April 21, 1906 at Henderson, Neb. In this community she grew to womanhood and established her home.

She was baptized upon her confession of faith by Rev. John F. Epp on June 5, 1927, and united with the Bethesda Mennonite church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

She was united in marriage to Henry J. Bergen on March 4, 1931. To this union were born two children: Lorene, Mrs. John Rempel, of Denver, Colo., and Dean who lives with his parents.

Mother’s presence in the home was always a constant encouragement to her family. In the dark days of our home she gave us courage and hope to go on. She always saw the bright things in life and the good things in other people. In her home she worked hard, yet she was always willing to help others where ever there was need. She also found time to do little things and the kindly deeds that made our home cheerful and pleasant.

Mother was in failing health the past year and the end came all to soon on May 29, 1955. She reached the age of 49 years, one month and eight days. Sorrow has filled our hearts, but her loving care will always remain a cherished memory.

She leaves to mourn her departure: her husband, Henry J. Bergen; two children, Lorene and Dean; one son-in-law, John Rempel; twin granddaughters, Judy Kay and Jeanie Fay; her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Bergen; four sisters, Mrs. Dan (Lizzie) Peters, Mrs. Herb O. (Tena) Friesen, Mrs. Nick O. (Goldie) Friesen, one brother, Herman Mierau of Grand Island, Neb.; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Herman (Lela) Mierau, Mrs. Peter O. (Helen) Friesen, Mrs. Pete (Agnes) Bergen, Mrs. Edward (Alma) Siemens, Mrs. Ike (Irene) Bergen,; eight brothers-in-law, Dan Peters, Herb O. Friesen, Gus O. Friesen, Nick O. Friesen, Peter O. Friesen, Pete Bergen, Ike Bergen and Edward Siemens; uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Klippenstein, Mr. and Mrs. George Klippenstein, Mr. and Mrs. Tom H. Friesen, Isaac Mierau, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Mierau, Mr. and Mrs. David Mierau, Mrs. George Mierau, Mrs. Henry Mierau, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mierau. — The Family.
