DAVID BERG

David Berg, the son of Peter and Anna Pankratz Berg, was born in Marion County, Kan. on April 10, 1883. At the age of two he moved with his parents to the Durham, Kan. community where he attended the county schools.

On Feb. 18, 1910, he was united in holy matrimony to Lizzie Hildebrandt at Hooker, Okla. This union, which lasted 54 years, was blessed with three sons and one daughter.

In 1911 he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. However, it wasn't until 1916 when he found real assurance of salvation and was baptized upon his confession of faith and united with the Mennonite Brethren Church of Hillsboro.

We made our first home on a farm at Hooker, Okla. In 1913 we moved to Hillsboro, Kan., and in 1935 we came to Reedley, Calif.

In the last few years his health began to fail. Four months ago we took him to the Manning Gardens Convalescent Hospital. On Tuesday, April 21, 1964, he told the nurses in the morning he didn't desire breakfast for he thought he would go Home to Glory. Toward the noon hour he had a stroke and about 3:00 he went Home to be with the Lord. He reached the age of 81 years and 11 days.

Those who mourn his departure are his widow, Mrs. Lizzie Berg of Reedley; three sons, John and Eldon of Reedley and Floyd of the U. S. Air Force in Sacramento; one daughter, Evelyn, Mrs. Clarence Hodel of Reedley; five grandchildren: one great-grandchild; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; one brother, Abe Berg of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Katie, Mrs. Solomon Bartel of Shafter, Calif., and Helen, Mrs. Powell of Mobile, Ala.

The memorial service was held in th Mennonite Brethren Church of Reedley on April 25, with Rev. Dan Friesen officiating.
