Widow of M. B. Publishing House Manager Dies

Hillsboro, Kan. — Mrs. P. H. Berg, 65, whose husband was editor and manager of the Mennonite Brethren Publishing House here for many years, died March 19 at Salem Hospital. Mr. Berg died in 1958.

Mrs. Berg was the former Anna R. Jost. A lifetime resident of this community, she was active in the community and in the Hillsboro M. B. Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher and president of the women's missionary circle. At the time of her death she was chairman of the Salem Hospital Auxiliary.

MRS. P. H. BERG

Mrs. P. H. Berg of Hillsboro, Kan. died suddenly late Monday night; March 11, at Salem hospital after a short illness.

She was born Anna R. Jost on Feb. 17, 1897, at Hillsboro, the daughter of Heinrich and Tina Regehr Jost. She was reared on the farm southwest of Hillsboro and attended Hope Valley school. She worked in Hillsboro as a clerk in the Suderman-Harms Department Store for many years.

On April 26, 1931, she was married to Peter H. Berg of Hillsboro and accepted the motherhood of Mr. Berg's five children, Mr. Berg, who was prominent as a lay minister in the Mennonite Brethren Conference and for many years the editor and manager of the M. B. Publishing House, died in 1958.

Mrs. Berg was active in church and community activities. At the time of her death she was chairman of the Salem Hospital Auxiliary, teacher of a Sunday School class in the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, and had served the Women's Missionary Circle of her local church as president for nine years.

She became a member of the Gnadenau Church in her youth and after her marriage joined the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church where she remained a member until her death.

Surviving are three sons and one daughter and their families: Alfred Berg, Wichita; Milton Berg, Enid, Okla.; Elfrieda, Mrs. Don Cushenbery, Columbia, Mo.; and Norman Berg, Wasco, Calif.

Funeral services were held March 23 in the Hillsboro M. B. Church with Rev. Marvin Hein officiating, assisted by Rev. Clarence Hiebert.
