Oldest Member of Berne Church Dies
Berne, Ind. — Edward Beitler, 89, oldest member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church west of Berne, died at his home in Geneva on Sunday, July 12.
A lifelong resident of this area, he farmed in the Linn Grove community most of his life.
Survivors include sons Glenford of Decatur and Leonard of Fort Wayne; a niece, Mrs. Archie Graber of Archbold, Ohio, former missionary to the Congo who was raised in the Beiter [sic Beitler] home; one sister, Mrs. Hiram Liechty of Swiss Village; and a brother, Fred of Geneva.
Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Mennonite Church with Rev. Robert Zehr, the pastor, and Rev, Kenneth Hawkins of the Berne Church of the Nazarene officiating.
