I, Abraham A. Beier, son of Abraham and Elizabeth Beier, was born on Dec. 4, 1879 near Parker, S. D. Later my parents moved to Marion, S. D., where I went to the public school.
In January 1901, my parents moved to Corn, Okla., where I found my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was baptized on May 8, 1902 by Rev. Henry Bergthold. I united with the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church for fellowship. Later I transferred my membership to the Gotebo, Okla., Mennonite Brethren Church.
Here at Gotebo, I found my life companion in Sis. Lena Richert. We were married by Rev. Abraham Richert on Dec. 5, 1912, at the home of my bride's parents, Jacob P. Richerts.
In the spring of 1915 we came to California. After living in Lodi for several months we moved to the Reedley area and joined the Reedley M. B. Church. Since I was a carpenter I had the joy of helping build the house of God in 1919 and also later in 1951 I could have a part in the new building.
The Lord has blessed our labors during all these years so that we were never in want, but could help along with foreign mission and home mission needs. (Thus far Mr. Beier wrote his own obituary.)
Bro. Beier enjoyed fairly good health until the last year of his life. Because of his illness he went to the hospital five weeks ago from which he was not to return. Saturday morning, July 14, 1962, about 5 a.m. he passed on to be with the Lord. He reached the age of 82 years, seven months and 10 days.
Bro. Beier served the Reedley church for many many years as treasurer and also in various other capacities. He was a true child of God who loved to support the work of the kingdom.
He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife, Mrs. Lena Beier, Reedley; one brother, Peter Beier, Reedley; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Berg and Mrs. Katie Quiring, both of Reedley; five sisters-in-law; four brother-in-law, and other relatives and friends.
The memorial service was held in the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. Dan Friesen and Rev. H. R. Wiens officiating.
