Deaths of Nebraska Couple Nearly Simultaneous

Wayland, Iowa. — Relatives from this place went to Milford, Neb. to attend double funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Beckler, held Sept. 10 at the East Fairview Mennonite Church.

Mrs. Fannie Beckler, 74, died in the hospital room of her husband, Edward, a few minutes after his death. Mr. Beckler was 78.

Survivors here include the Becklers' daughter, Mrs. Max Yoder, and Mrs. Beckler's brother, Jake Roth.

FANNIE BECKLER

Funeral services were held Sept. 10 for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Beckler of Milford, Neb. Mr. Beckler, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 7, at Memorial Hospital, Seward, while his wife, Fannie, was at his side. Mrs. Beckler, 74, turned away from her husband's bedside and died within a few minutes.

Mr. Beckler, son of William and Rachel (Jantz) Beckler, was born Dec. 20, 1885 [sic 1895] near Milford. Mrs. Beckler was the daughter of Michael and Lena (Gascho) Roth. She was born Oct. 1, 1889 [sic 1899], also near Milford.

The couple were married Feb. 19, 1920. They had nine children, all of whom survive their parents: Lucille (Mrs. Max Yoder), Wellman, Ia.; Clayton, Milford; Margaret (Mrs. Ralph Kauffman), Haven, Kan.; Grace (Mrs. Morris Stauffer), Omaha; Inez (Mrs. Thurlowe Stauffer), Beaver Crossing; Eula Faye, Phoenix, and Norman, Milford.

Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and Mrs. Beckler's five brothers and two sisters: Joe, Bill, and Albert Roth all of Milford; Jake, Wayland, Ia.; Ed, Haven, Kan.; Mrs. Alma Bontrager, Iowa City; Mrs. Frieda Kauffman, Haven, Kan.

Mr. and Mrs. Beckler were members of the East Fairview Mennonite Church where services were held with Rev. Oliver Roth and Rev. Herbert Yoder officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
