MRS. CARRIE BECKER

Our mother, Mrs. Carrie Schmidt Becker, was born January 21, 1879, in Wayne county, Ohio. She passed away Sept. 5, 1951, at the home of her children, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Schmidt, Goltry, Okla. at the age of 72 years, seven months and 15 days.

She grew up in the Lonetree community in McPherson county, Kans. where she also received a limited education. Since her mother died when she was but a baby, she was cared for by her grandparents, Pete Beckers. Her father married again when she was 13 years of age, and then he took her to their new home at Pauls Valley, Okla.

Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Sam J. Schmidt, our father, on Feb. 18, 1898. Father and mother shared married life together for 46 years, seven months and 21 days. To this union were born three daughters, Mary, Anna and Lena.

After their marriage they made their home at Pauls Valley, Okla. until the fall of 1903, when they with others moved to Carnegie, Okla., where they established their home and reared their family. In 1939 they moved to Burns, Kans. where they lived on a farm. There father was taken by death on Oct. 9, 1944.

On June 12, 1945, mother was married to Henry Becker of Moundridge, Kans. Her second husband was taken from her by death Aug. 18, 1947. She then stayed with her children until death took her from us.

Mother gave her heart to God and was baptized together with father and added to the Church of God in Christ Mennonite by John A. Koehn on March 19, 1923. She was an active member of the church, had a charitable disposition and entertained many guests and strangers.

She now leaves to mourn her passing the children, Mary, Mrs. Phillip Unruh, Lena, Mrs. Dan B. Koehn of Burns, and Anna, Mrs. John J. Schmidt of Goltry, Okla., with their husbands; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, eight sisters and two brothers, and a host of relatives and friends.

Her husband, second husband, two grandchildren and eight brothers preceded her in death.

We mourn not as those who have no hope, but firmly believe mother has gone to rest at the right hand of God.

Funeral services were held in the Eden Mennonite church, Burns, Kans. on Sept. 9, 1951. Burial was in the Lonetree cemetery.
