Mrs. Caroline Becker

Mrs. Caroline Becker, the daughter of Peter and Helena Jantz Richert, was born in the village Antonofka, Poland Russia, September 8, 1859.

She departed from this life in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Caroline Herbig at 3 P. M., February 16, 1940, at the age of 80 years, five months and eight days.

She came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Richert, in December, 1878. She was married to Andrew A. Becker December 8, 1878, at Moundridge, Kansas. Her husband preceded her in death 20 years ago. To this union were born 12 children, two of whom preceded her in death, one of which died in infancy; the other, Dan Becker, her oldest son, died seven years ago.

The other children are:

Mrs. Mary Ratzlaff, Meno, Oklahoma; Mrs. Helen Coe, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Ben Becker, Spearman, Texas; Peter Becker, Goltry, Oklahoma; Miss Matilda Becker, Juneau, Alaska; Mrs. Caroline Herbig, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mrs. Eva Loganbill, Bluffton, Ohio; Joseph Becker, Pratt, Kansas; Herman Becker, Enid,Oklahoma; Albert Becker, Meno, Oklahoma.

She with her family moved to Meno, Oklahoma, in 1901, where she has lived ever since excepting the last year and a half, when she made her home with her daughter Caroline at Tulsa, Oklahoma. About 25 years ago she had a stroke from which she has never fully recovered and has been in failing health more or less ever since.

She leaves to mourn her departure ten children, the above named, 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister (Mrs. Lena Wedel) of Moundridge, Kansas. Also a host of friends.

Having been a member of the New Hopedale church ever since she came to Oklahoma, she wished also to be buried at the church at Meno, Oklahoma, so she was brought here from Tulsa, Oklahoma, the day she died and was buried at Meno, Oklahoma, February 20, 1940.

At the funeral Rev. Frey made the introduction, reading a portion of 2 Corinthians 5, after which Rev. H. U. Schmidt preached the funeral sermon, on the text: Numbers 23, 10.
