Typhoid Fatal to School Girl.

Bernice, the 16 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Lizzie Thutt-Baumgartner, died at 9 P. M. Saturday at her home 4 miles west of this city. She had been confined to her bed for two weeks with an attack of typhoid fever. Born Feb. 1, 1917, Miss Bernice was babtized [sic] on Oct. 5, 1928, and became a member of Oak Grove church at that time. She has always been a picture of health and it was a surprise to her many friends to hear of her serious illness and death. She was a sophomore at Smithville high school and the pallbearers will be selected from that class.

The grim reaper did not consider age or person. She sang on her deathbed on her last day on this earth, and hopes were entertained for her recovery. She died with her fortitude, believing on Him. She leaves her deeply grieved parents, to half-sisters, Edith, Mrs. Lloyd Miller of near Orrville, and Mrs. Dan Lehman who were on a visit in Missouri. A sister Esther preceded her in death 8 years ago. Funeral services were held from the Oak Grove church near Smithville at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday in charge of Rev. Gerig. Burial was made in Martins cemetery.

Those from a distance attending the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Bixel, Reuben Thutt and daughter of Bluffton, Sol Baumgartner and daughter, Mrs. Mary Hall and daughter Doris Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Baumgartner, son Homer and daughter Alma of Pandora, Mr. and Mrs. and Mrs. Dan Lehman nd family of W. Liberty, Mrs. Edna Thutt King, Cleveland, Mrs. Slaubaugh, Roy Slaubaugh and Mrs. Finch of Indiana.
