Mrs. Bauman has been at the verge of death probably two weeks and during that time her suffering was very severe and she longed for her last relief. Though very feeble for days she was conscious until Sunday noon.

Afflicted with disease probably for several years, the seriousness of her condition did not become apparent until five or six weeks ago. She has been bedfast since Armistice day.

She was united in in [sic] marriage with Peter Bauman, a native of Switzerland, on January 2, 1898. Since their marriage the pair has lived on their present farm which they have build into a splendid modern home.

As a result of this union nine children were born, seven of whom survive. They are Erwin, Arminia, wife of Wesley Lehman, Esther, wife of Dan Striker all of Berne and community; twins, Tilman and Sylvan, John and Anna Marcella at home. A foster son, Clarence, son of Rudolph Bauman, deceased, has been staying in the home for a number of years.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: Wilhelm of Ft. Wayne; Mrs. Calvin Lehman west of Geneva; Mrs. Menas Liechty, Monroe township; John of Fort Wayne; Leon of Berne; Osia, Monroe township and Dr. Rufus von Gunten of Berne. The parents, two sons in infancy and a sister, Mrs. Abraham Kneuss, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Mennonite church here on Wednesday, New Year's day afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, preceded by a service at the home at 1. Burial will be at the M. R. E. cemetery. Rev. Suckau will have charge. — Berne Witness.
