Isaac Basinger

Mr. Isaac Basinger was born in Riley township, Putnam County, Ohio, on April 30, 1843, and died at his late home, two miles southeast of this place on Feb. 28, 1927, at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 28 days.

His companion preceded him to the realms beyond in April 1905. Eight children, 5 sons and 3 daughters, were born into this home. Four sons, Hugo, Seth, Hiram and Oscar and one daughter, Mrs. Lower, are still living. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom are living.

Mr. Basinger was a good, helpful neighbor, a good farmer, and off and on for over 50 years he worked at the trade as mason at which he was quite proficient.

Mr. Basinger had a sturdy and rugged constitution but for a number of years was more or less troubled with rheumatism. He was bedfast most of the time since last October and died Monday, February 28 from dropsy of the heart. His end was rather sudden as he ate quite a hearty breakfast yet that morning. Before his two sons, Hugo and Oscar, (who were caring for him) could notify other members of his family to be at their father's bedside he had passed away.

He was a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church where his funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Peter Steiner, of Lima, officiating. Funeral was quite largely attended. — Pandora Times.
