SUSIE BECKER BASE

Susie Becker Base was born in Poland on July 25, 1860. In her early girlhood years she, with her mother and stepfather, moved to South Russia. In 1874 the family came to America and settled near Canton, Kansas.

She spent much of her early years working for other people. In 1875, on the second Easter Holiday she was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ

On October 19, 1879, at Canton, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Henry M. Base. They made their home on a farm near Moundridge, Kansas. In 1891 they moved to southeastern Oklahoma, (then Indian Territory) near Byers. Again in 1902 the family moved to a farm near Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, which had been her home to the time of her departure from this world.

She was always quite active and in fairly good health until September 15, at which time she became ill, and was bedfast until the end. She departed from this life at 1:20 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 1950, at the age of 90 years and four months (less one day).

Her sincere desire and longing was to be with her Lord and Savior, in whom she trusted, and she often expressed her wish for Jesus to come and take her Home. A few minutes before she passed away she said, “Jesus is my only hope and joy, In Whom I trust”

Her husband preceded her in death on March 24, 1924, as well as three children who died in infancy, and one son, Samuel, at the age of 5 years. She leaves to mourn her departure her children: Jacob Base and wife, Mission, Texas; Peter Base and wife, Enterprise, Kansas: Isaac Base and wife, Dan Base and wife, Willie Base and wife, all of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; Mary, Mrs. Peter Schmidt, and her husband, La Junta, Colo.; Lena, Mrs. John Schmidt, Goltry, Okla.; Annie, Mrs. Emil Dalke and husband, Burrton, Kans.; and Carrie, Mrs. Henry Dalkie and husband, Fort Cobb, Okla.; also 40 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
