HENRY S. BARTSCH

Henry S. Bartsch, formerly of Dalmeny, Sask., passed away November 20, 1969 in the Rosthern Union Hospital. He was 92 years old. He was born to Henry A. and Barbara Janzen-Bartsch on August 4, 1877, in Cottonwood Country, at Bingham Lake, Minnesota. He found salvation through Christ in his youth and on June 19, 1896 he was baptized by Rev. Heinrich Voth and received into the fellowship of the Mennonite Brethren Church. He moved to Saskatchewan with his parents in 1904 and homesteaded in the Dalmeny district. On December 26, 1904 he was married to Katherina Penner. God gave them 61 years together and blessed their union with six children, of whom two died in infancy, a son and a daughter. On August 20, 1966 he was predeceased by his wife and this loss marked the beginning of a definite decline in his activity and interest in life. During the long years of his increasing infirmity at home he was lovingly cared for by his daughter Annie. In the earlier years of his retirement, he spent much time and effort in the distribution of Christian literature.

He is survived by one daughter, Annie; three sons, David, Rufus and Henry, all oi Dalmeny; two daughrters-in-law; seven grandchildren; a brother and two sisters.
