Young Man in Harvest Field Succumbs to Heat Prostration.

Halstead, Kansas, July 12. — Albert Peter Bartel, 21-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Bartel, who live seven miles north of Halstead, was overcome by heat at 3:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon while working in the harvest field. He was rushed to Halstead Hospital where treatment for sunstroke was immediately administered. The young man was in a grave condition and nothing could be done to save his life. He died at 11:30 o'clock that evening. His temperature soared to 109 degrees in the afternoon, and it was not known how much higher it went, for that is as high as a medical thermometer will register.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home and at 2:45 at the Halstead Mennonite church, with Rev. P. P. Wedel of Moundridge in charge of the services. Music will be furnished by a male quartet from Halstead. — Halstead Independent.
