On Thursday afternoon, Oct. 28, Jac. D. Barkman, 85, a lifelong resident of Steinbach, was laid to rest from the EMB Church here. He was born in the Kleefeld area, but in his early days came with his parents to Steinbach. He was employed for about 30 years at the Steinbach Flour Mills. In 1936 he opened a repair shop which he operated until his retirement about eight years ago. He is survived by his wife, seven daughters and seven sons, 63 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The remains were laid to rest in the Steinbach Cemetery. — Cornelius L. Toews.
