MRS. ELIZABETH BARKMAN

Mrs. Elizabeth Barkman of Auburn, Neb., long-time resident of the Jansen, Neb., vicinity, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Friesen, at Auburn on Thursday, Nov. 13, 1958. She would have been 95 on Nov. 27 of this year.

Elizabeth Heidebrecht was born in Odessa, Russia, and came to the Jansen vicinity with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Heidebrecht, in 1874 when Elizabeth was 11.

She married Martin B. Barkman and they lived in the Jansen community for many years. He preceded her in death May 6, 1945. A son, Peter B. Barkman, died Feb. 4, 1942. In recent years she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Friesen, in Auburn.

Surviving are three daughters, Lizzie, Mrs. John Cressman of Jansen, Mrs. Margaret Friesen and Mrs. Agnes Hughes, both of Auburn; eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Amelia Barkman of Twin Falls, Idaho.

Funeral services were Saturday morning at Auburn, and at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in the Nuckolls chapel. A Christian Science Reader, Henry Wendtland, officiated. Interment was made in the Jansen cemetery.

Among relatives from a distance who attended were a granddaughter, the former June Hughes of San Francisco, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cressman of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
