GERTRUDE BAERG

Mrs. Gertrude Baerg, 30, of Grassy Lake, Alberta, passed suddenly into the presence of the Lord on August 27. Death was the result of a clot in a plastic aortic valve.

She was born on February 26, 1937 in Altona, Man., and at the age of 14 moved with her parents to Coaldale, Alta. On August 31, 1957 she was married to Alfred Baerg of Coaldale. God blessed their home with two children, Lynn Colleen, 9, and Brenda Lee, 7, both of whom survive their mother. It was determined at an early age that Gertrude had a leaking valve as a result of rheumatic fever. In 1964 she submitted to open heart surgery to have a plastic valve installed and it was at this time that she and her husband accepted Christ as personal Saviour. They moved to Grassy Lake in 1965 and on the day of her death they expressed their desire to be baptized. However, the Lord saw fit to take her to himself that same Sunday.

The funeral was in the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church, September 1, with the pastor of the Grassy Lake Church, Allen Andres, in charge. Mrs.Baerg is survived by her husband, Alfred; her two daughters; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Enns of Coaldale, a sister, Mrs. Alfred (Tina) Lang, and a brother, John Enns, both of Calgary.
