WALTER ALBRECHT

Walter Albrecht was born August 24, 1900, to Chris J. and Francis Zerger Albrecht at Weatherford, Okla., and passed to his heavenly home Dec. 14, 1950, at the Monroe General hospital, Monroe, Wash.

He suffered with asthma and a recent serious heart condition having contracted asthma in 1925 when he and his father were helping to build the hospital where he recently passed away. He entered the hospital on Monday, Dec. 11, hoping to recover enough so he could return to his home for the holidays but the Lord had other plans for him.

His heart became bad two years ago and doctors held out little hope for his recovery, but with God's help he rallied and was somewhat better for some time The past two or three months he became worse again which led to his departure.

Walter received his early schooling and also attended Southwestern State Teachers' college at Weatherford, Okla. He enjoyed going to the apple harvest every fall at Cashmere, Wash., having been employed at the same place for better than 20 years. He was there for his last apple harvest this fall, but was unable to do very much on account of his heart condition.

He was a member of the baptismal class and was baptized by Rev. J. J. Flaming, pastor of the Bergthal Mennonite church, Corn Okla. at the age of 14 years, confessing faith in his Saviour.

In September 1919 he, with his father, mother, one brother and two sisters moved to a farm five miles east of Kingman, Kans. where they lived for five years. He was a member of the First Mennonite church at Pretty Prairie, Kans.

On March 2, 1924, his beloved mother passed to her heavenly home. The same year, in September 1924, he with his father, brother and two sisters moved to Monroe, Wash., residing on a farm on Route 2, Monroe, until his death. His father passed away March 20, 1948.

Funeral services were held at the Mennonite Country church, of which Walter was a charter member, on Monday, Dec. 18, 3 p. m. with Rev. Abraham Unruh officiating. Mrs. P. J. Zerger and Mrs. Albert Schwartz, with Mrs. Unruh pianist, sang “Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and is [sic] favorite "Nearer My God to Thee." Interment was made at the Memorial Park.

His all too early departure leaves two sisters, Elma Albrecht ; and Mrs. Linda Peters, and one brother, Raymond E. Albrecht, a of Route 2, Monroe, a brother-in law, Menno Peters, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ray E. Albrecht, one nephew and four nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
