ROY ALLEN ZOOK

Roy Allen Zook, youngest son of Roy Allen and Selina (Miller) Zook, was born in Tofield, Alta., Canada Oct. 27, 1930.

In the spring of 1936 he with his parents moved to Rice county, Kansas, near Inman, and a few years later moved near Little River, Kansas.

In 1940, on his 10th birthday, while attending evangelistic meetings near Crystal Springs, Kansas conducted by Rev. C. F. Derstine, Kitchener, Ont., he confessed Christ as his personal Saviour. On Feb. 16, 1941, he was baptized and received into the Mennonite church in the West Liberty congregation, near Inman, by J. G. Hartzler.

In 1946 the family moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where he spent the remainder of his life, and where also his membership was transferred to the Argentine Mennonite church.

In the fall of 1947 he entered the Kansas City College and Bible School in Overland Park, in his second high school year. He enjoyed the school work and made good grades. One morning shortly before his death he had a heart experience with Christ in the chapel service which caused him to have much joy and peace in his soul, and to consecrate his life more fully to the Lord. He was the first student to pass away in the seven years history of the school

He was an industrious boy, cheerful in disposition, and made many friends in his short life on earth.

On Nov. 22, while riding on his motor scooter, he collided with a car at an intersection in the suburbs of the city, and was seriously injured. He was taken to the University of Kansas hospital, where he peacefully passed away on Nov. 24.

He leaves his parents, five sisters, Esther of Holton, Kansas, Estella (Mrs. A. J. Kieffaber) of Kansas City. Kans., Edna, Kansas City, Mo., Elvera at home, and Eldora, E.M.C., Harrisonburg, Va.; three brothers, George R., Loman, Minn., John Mark, Hesston College, Kans., and Luke L, Kansas City; and many other relatives and friends. One brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at the Argentine Mennonite church, Kansas City, in charge of Rufus Horst, assisted by Edward Yoder, E. W. Roy, and J. G. Hartzler. Text Nahum 1:7. He was laid to rest in the Maple Hill cemetery.
