MRS. ENOCH J. ZOOK

Mrs. Mary Spichear Zook, the daughter of Abraham and Salome Spichear, was born April 12, 1881, in Lawrence County, Pa., and died March 2, 1963 after a brief illness, aged 81 years, ten months, and 18 days.

In her teen age she was left with the responsibility of running the home for her family on the death of her mother. On Jan. 2, 1902 she was married to Enoch J. Zook who preceded her in death and was buried Jan 14, 1962, on their 60th anniversary date. They lived in Lawrence County, Pa. all their lives and were faithful members of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church near New Wilmington, where he was minister and bishop for many years. During the last 10 months of her life she made her home with her daughter at Elida, Ohio.

Bro. and Sister Zook will be remembered for their many years of unselfish service in the home, the church and the community. Their home was open to the many visitors who in past years would often stop at homes over night. During World War II their home was open, especially on week ends, for CPS men who were working in nearly areas in dairy testing.

Surviving are three daughters, Ethel, Mrs. M. L. Troyer of Elida, Ohio, Sara, Mrs. Merle W. Eshleman of Harrisonburg, Va., and Mary Emma, Mrs. Chester Shank of Scottdale, Pa., and two sons, Orren W. Zook of Youngstown, Ohio and E. Homer Zook of New Wilmington, Pa. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Amanda Kauffman of New Wilmington, one brother, Harvey Spiker of New Castle, Pa., 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held for the Elida, Ohio community on Sunday afternoon, March 3, 1963 at the Harter and Son Funeral Home, Delphos, Ohio. This service was in charge of Bro. Ivan Weaver.

Funeral services were held at the Sharpe Funeral Home, New Wilmington, Pa. on March 5 at 2:30 p. m. with Brethren Nathan Nussbaum, Merle W. Eshleman and M. L. Troyer having part in the services. Burial was in the Amish cemetery near New Wilmington where her husband and an infant son were buried.
