text of obituary:
MRS. HENRY ZIELKE
Katharine Zielke, nee Becker, daughter of Jacob Becker and Sara Dyck Becker, was born in South Russia on March 6, 1875. When she was about one year old her parents came to America and settled on a farm six miles east of Buhler in Harvey county, Kans. Here she attended the Alta district school, not for [sic] from their home.
When she was 18 years old she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized by Rev. Dietrich Gaeddert upon the confession of faith on May 22, 1893, and accepted into the Hoffnungsau Mennonite church, where she remained a faithful member until the family moved to Beaver county, Okla. [She joined the Fried county, Okla. sic extra phrase] She joined the Friedensfeld church when it was organized in 1908, whose true and faithful member she remained to the end.
On Nov, 21, 1893, she was united to her now sorrowing husband, Henry Zielke. In this union they were permitted to share joy and hardships for almost 56 years. To this union four sons and four daughters were born, of whom one son preceded her in death. They lived on a farm five miles east of Buhler until 1906, when they moved to Oklahoma. In 1917 they again came to Kansas, and in their later years lived at Buhler.
She began to suffer from a heart ailment about six years ago. nI [sic] September of this year she became seriously ill and on Sept. 27 she was taken to the Goessel hospital where the doctors and nurses cared for her as well as they could but the Lord took her to be with him on Sept 29, five minutes before midnight.
She trusted in Christ to the end and will now be forever with Him. We tender her this rest. She was a true wife, and a loving and caring mother and these will live even though she has parted from us. We merely say: “Till we meet again.”
She reached the age of 74 years, six months and 23 days. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, Henry Zielke; four daughters, Katie and husband, Tobias Dirks of Liberal, Kans., Sara and husband David Dirks of Buhler, Kans., Ann and husband Peter Franz of Turpin, Okla., and Lydia and husband Herbert Buller of Buhler; three sons, Jacob and wife of Turpin, Okla., John and wife and Arnold and wife of Buhler; one brother, Jacob Becker of Buhler; and three sisters, Gertrude, Mrs. Henry Friesen of Adams, Okla., Susie, Mrs. Isaak Friesen of Henderson, Nebr., and Marla, Mrs. John Dirks of Liberal, Kans.; also 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends. — The Bereaved Family.
