He attended the one-room Peaceful Grade School and was baptized Jan. 1, 1907, in the Hopefield-Eden Church, which later became the Eden Mennonite Church.

On Oct. 27, 1910, he married Anna B. Stuckey [sic], who preceded him in death on March 21, 1968. Their union was blessed with two daughters.

He farmed in the Moundridge area until 1925 when a series of health problems forced his early retirement. In 1928, the family moved to Moundridge.

He was a strong supporter of Christian education and was involved for many years in public service. He served on the board of directors for Bethel College, North Newton, Kan., Bethel Deaconess Hospital, Newton, Kan., and Citizens State Bank and Goering Hardware of Moundridge. He also was a member of the McPherson County Commission for many years. His highest priority, however, was the Eden Mennonite Church, where he was a faithful and active member.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Betty and Ray Lichti of Moundridge and Bonnie and James Heidebrecht of Topeka, Kan.,; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Anna Stucky, Emma Flickner and Selma Stucky.

GERHARD ZERGER

Gerhard Zerger was born Aug. 11, 1890, to Peter and Freni (Goering) Zerger on a farm west of Moundridge, Kan. He died Dec. 28, 1985, at the age of 95 at the Memorial Home at Moundridge.

He attended the one-room Peaceful Grade School and was baptized Jan. 1, 1907, in the Hopefield-Eden Church, which later became the Eden Mennonite Church.
