Mother of Three Fatally Burned

New Hamburg, Ontario. — Mrs. Daniel Zehr, 29, mother of three children, died at K-W Hospital in Kitchener on Oct. 24 from burns over her entire body sustained when her clothes caught fire while doing the weekly washing in the basement of her home.

Mrs. Zehr's next door neighbor, Mrs. Peter Brenner, saw her run from the basement enveloped in flames. She grabbed a blanket from the couch, ran and leaped a fence between the yards and wrapped the woman in the blanket.

Mrs. Zehr was the former Shirley Schmidt. Besides her husband, one daughter and two sons, she leaves her mother and one sister. Rev. Albert Zehr officiated at the memorial service held at the Steinman Mennonite church.
