Wife of Illinois Pastor Dies

Bloomington, Ill. — Mrs. Alma Zehr, 61, whose husband Rev. Harold Zehr is pastor of the Bloomington Mennonite Church, died April 18 at the home in Normal. She had been ill for several months.

Funeral services were held April 20 at the East Bend Mennonite church, Fisher, Ill., where the Zehrs formerly served. Survivors in addition to Rev. Zehr include eight children.

ALMA P. ZEHR

Funeral services for Mrs. Alma P. Zehr, 62, of Normal, Ill., wife of Rev. Harold. A. Zehr, were held April 20 at the East Bend Mennonite Church, Fisher, Ill. Rev. Zehr is pastor of the Bloomington Mennonite Church. Rev. J. Alton Horst, Rev. Roy Bucher, and Rev. Richard Yordy officiated and burial was at East Bend Mennonite Cemetery.

Mrs. Zehr died April 18 at her home after and illness of about six weeks.

She was born Nov. 5, 1903 at Roanoke, Ill., the daughter of Samuel E. and Sarah Steider Unzicker. She was married to Rev. Zehr at Roanoke on June 30, 1926. They lived in Fisher from 1931 to 1952 when they moved to Roanoke for several years and on to Normal, where they have lived since 1962.

Surviving besides her husband are four daughters, Edith Zehr, at home, Mrs. Thomas (Hazel) Yoder of Normal, Rachael [sic Rachel] Zehr of St. Louis, Mo. and Mrs. Ronald (Lila) King, Boone, Iowa; four sons, Dr. W. Jay Zehr of Goshen, Ind., John Zehr of Indianapolis, Ind., Dean Zehr of Washington, Ill., and Allen Zehr of Logansport, Ind.; two brothers, Roy Unzicker of Roanoke and Archie Unzicker, Eureka; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Hostetler of Tampico, Ill., and Mrs. Edna Teuscher, Fisher; and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Mrs. Zehr was a member of the Bloomington Mennonite Church. She was active in the Mennonite Hospital Auxiliary as well as the WMSA of her church.
