PIONEER SASKATCHEWAN FARMER AND MINISTER LEAVES 152 DESCENDENTS [sic]

Barnes Crossing, Sask. — Rev. Johann Zacharias, 85, who was born in Russia and lived through pioneering experiences in both Canada and Mexico, died at Meadow Lake hospital recently. Funeral services were held at the Barnes Crossing Mennonite church.

Coming to Manitoba in 1874, he joined the Sommerfelder church and later homesteaded at Main Centre, Saski [sic Sask.]. There he was elected to the ministry. He lived in Mexico from 1922 to 1930. His large family of descendents,[sic] many living in Mexico, includes 11 children, 67 grandchildren and 74 great-grandchildren.
